Developer forum "Embedded goes medical"

The demographic development and the trend for the individual medicine promise a significant growth of the biomedical device market. That was reason enough for the DESIGN&ELEKTRONIK to qualify the embedded community for the special challenges of this growing field with a developer forum "Embedded goes medical".

Under the slogan "medical practitioners meet developers - developers meet suppliers" the expert audience will meet in Leipzig on the 22nd of September.

The developing companies of the industry get the rare opportunity to contact their end users, the medical scientists, and to discuss in close cooperation the improvement of the system plans and user interfaces. comlet Verteilte Systeme GmbH will also make the appearance as an exhibitor and sponsor of the event.

Being a competent development partner in the field of medical technology, comlet also takes an active part in the forum. comlet associate Mr. Florian Rosenthal will report in the session 5, “development conforming to standards” on the subject of “DIN EN 62304 Standard – problems and approaches”. (Please note, that the official language of the forum is German).

The software development in the medical technology, especially in the embedded area, becomes more and more significant. Nowadays the software is granted to take a big part of responsibility for the patient, which results in a request for a high quality software.

Last year a DIN EN 62304 standard was submitted to guarantee the demanded quality. This standard serves throughout the complete life cycle of the software in medical devices. The consequences and problems, resulting from that, especially the consequences for middle-class businesses with small development departments, and possible approaches towards implementation, are summarized in the presentation.
