For the 8th time comlet has awarded a cash prize for the best master graduate in computer science and microsystems technology at the University of Zweibrücken. Thomas Bach, Master of Science was very pleased with the attribute “with distinction” and the € 1,000 prize.
He demonstrated his expert abilities in his thesis entitled: “Computational Density on Modern Microprocessors in HEP Data Analysis at CERN”. The thesis dealt with the exploration of new ways to measure and improve computational density.
Mr. Bach received the grade of 1.0 for his master thesis and finished the best in his year. The thesis was supervised by Prof. Dr. Jörg Hettel from the university. The 1,000 Euro check from comlet Verteilte Systeme was awarded to Mr. Bach by Dirk Sieber at the graduation party in Zweibrücken.
In addition, three further graduates who completed their thesis at comlet Verteilte Systeme also achieved excellent results:
Patrick Mathias emerged as the best bachelor graduate in Applied Computer Science. He received the grade of 1.0 for his “Statistical Analysis of Process Data” and was supervised by Prof. Manuel Duque-Antón.
The work of Matthias Böffel “Adaptation of the Android Operating System for the Individual Volume Control of Apps” and that of Markus Nebel “Analysis of Performance Problems and Development of Solutions in a Heating Control Gateway” both completed at comlet, were also awarded with grade 1.0. Prof. Tien Tran supervised both subjects.
comlet and the University of Kaiserslautern located in Zweibrücken enjoy a long-term cooperative partnership. The engineering company comlet emerged in 2001 as a spin-off from the university and is now the place of work for numerous graduates from the university. The company regularly offers HiWi positions as well as postgraduate internships, in addition to providing subject matter for master thesis and bachelor and research work.
